(6.11.2016) Ben Vane & Ben Ledi, 23km. 7hrs. 1,067m ascent
Ptarmigan November Meet high tea was at the Lade Inn, just outside Callander. The bus dropped us off at Brig o’Turk & we took the landrover track North to the power station & Glen Finglas Reservoir. We took the other track NE up Gleann Casaig to Bealach na Seann then NW to the summit of Ben Vane 821m. Lucy left a rose for Martin, a member of the club who sadly passed away in an accident on the hills. Headed back SE towards Stuc Dhubh 662m, passed by Bioran na Circe 722m, Lochan nan Corp, Bealach nan Corp & up Ben Ledi’s NW ridge. Winds on Ben Ledi were the most ferocious i’ve ever encountered on the hills. Crawling at one point. Descended SE & instead of taking the path back down, we continued SE down rough ground to the Great Trossachs Path then back along to the Lade Inn with good food, good company & a toast to Martin’s memory.
