Glas Tulaichean & Carn an Righ

(2-3.9.16) Loch nan Eun Camp.Glas Tulaichean & Carn an Righ: Day 1. 8.3km, 2hours22mins, 427m ascent: Day 2. 16.5km. 6hrs. 595m ascent.

Arranged to meet ma good pal Steve for a wee camping trip & a couple of hills. This was to be his first walk in 17 months due to having 2 new wee boys to contend with. Weather was looking better in the East & I thought a couple of easy hills might fit the bill to ease him back in.  Always fancied a wild camp at Loch nan Eun.We paid out £2.50 to park up at the Dalmunzie Hotel up from the Spittal then set off Friday evening around 4sh. It was a beautiful evening in Gleann Taitneach as we made our way up this picturesque glen. Plenty of deer were roaming around. Chilled the scoops, cooked tea & went for a wee wander. The Loch really is a lovely, tranquil place. I read online it was inspiration for Pipe Major Bert Barron who visited the Loch several times & composed a slow air for the pipes called ‘Lonely Loch nan Eun’

I slept not too bad. Woke up a few times as it was a wee bit breezy. In the morning the clag was down quite low with glimpses of it clearing. The forecast on Friday was 60% chance of cloud free Munros in the South East & also showers. The forecast must've changed cause it certainly wasn't 60% where we were. Packed up after breakfast & headed off SW along the stalkers path below Mam nan Carn to the 771m bealach where we ditched the tent & nipped up & down Carn an Righ. Had the waterprooofs on & off as there was frequent showers. Picked up the camping gear then took the lower path East before climbing South up to the ridge by the 922m point the around the ridge with no views to Glas Choire Bheag & Glas Choire Mhor .The waterproofs were on as it was full on battering it down. Quick couple of pics at the summit before we took the track back. There were a few good pitches for the tent but we went for a little grassy knoll which had good views down Gleann Taitneach. This was the first time my pals tent the vango spirit 200 plus was used since me & him has a wild camp on the white mounth circuit.
