Chailleach & Carn Sgulain (Monadhliath Mountains) 18km, 5 hrs
Club bus to Newtonmore: Dropped off at the end of the minor road in Glen Banchor. Followed the track North, crossed the Allt Chaorainn & followed the rough track up by the corrugated iron hut/ bothy up to the summit of A’ Chailleach. The South Westerly was very strong. Took shelter in the wind shelter cairn before descending NW to 820m. Crossed over the V shaped valley stream Allt Cuil na Caillich then NE over boggy ground to the flat plateau & the summit of Carn Sgulain. From here we descended SE down the steep ground by the Allt Bruthach an Easain then along the boggy ground by the Allt Chaorainn back to the path then back down the minor road to Newtonmore. The weather was very windy but sunny.
