Ptarmigan June Meet (Glen Etive)

(5.6.16) Glas Bheinn Mhor (Glen Etive) 16km, 6hrs, 26min. 1060m ascent

A group of us headed for Glas Bheinn Mhor on a scorching day. I walked ahead to keep up with the speedy Shane & Tom who were taking the path NE of Glas Bheinn Mhor by the Allt Mheuran. The others seemed to be taking the other path NW by the Allt nam Meirleach.  It was hard going in the heat but luckily the river was close by. After the bealach & the hard slog it felt cooler as the clouds covered the sun briefly which always happens when the hard work is over. At the summit we met up with Tim & Martin who came up the Glas Bheinn Chaol ridge. We had lunch together & enjoyed the views before they made their way to their second Munro Stob Coir an Albannaich. We descended SW to the top Meall nan Tri Tighearnan & met up with the others who found their route up hard going in the heat. We all descended this way & I could see why, pretty rough going & steep. My 2 litre bladder pack ran out on the descent whuch was the first time that’s happened since I can remember. A stunning day in Glen Etive but hot, hot, hot.
