6hrs,10mins. 814m ascent
Another monthly bus trip to the hills. The 2nd Sunday of the month was the Highways trip to the Old Bridge of Tilt. Took the track up as far as Gilberts Bridge. The Croft Crombie Rifle Range on the other side of the River Tilt was full on shooting mode. It was a mental racket & I've never heard so much noise. From the ruins we took the grassy path North staying on the high path down to New Bridge. A beautiful little scenic area around here & up to Gleann Mhairc. Maybe a wee wild camp one day. From here it was a straight forward bimble up the South ridge. Took abit of time getting up to the summit mind you but the ridge was gentle & dry underfoot. Continued on along the summit to point 901m on the maps to get the views into the Cairngorms. We also heard the stags roaring & rutting. We headed back the way we came. An enjoyable day on the hills.
